Multifocal lenses (Reviol):
Given that most of cataract patients suffer from presbyopia (decreased vision for close distance), even with an improved vision for far distance after their cataract surgery, they will still need spectacles corrections for task requiring a crisp near vision. To solve this problem Multifocal IOLs (Reviol) or “bifocal” IOLs were developed. This type of IOLs with two distance focusing offers you reading glasses-independence by improving your vision for both far and near distances. Over 90% of patients implanted with multifocal IOLs declare they do no longer use reading glasses. In some rare cases you may experience a halo around streetlights and car lights while driving at night. Should you suffer from astigmatism before surgery, you will still need an additional correction after surgery.
